1980s Yves Saint Laurent Quilted Mum Jacket

spider mums on silk The cropped quilted silk jacket is a veritable Yves Saint Laurent staple, showing up in spring and fall collections throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s. The fabric would change and the silhouette varied but it was the same premise and is a distinctive element in the collective body of Yves' work. Fuchsia and maraschino cherry red silk with curling Asian spider chrysanthemums in inky purple/black outlned in gold. Fastening along the placket with a row of small black buttons, it has pockets over each hip bone and is lined entirely in black silk crepe de chine. Beautiful with a shocking pink Stephen Sprouse satin skirt and black and pink Saint Laurent slingbacks, it has moderate shoulder pads. Bust 36", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 21" and length 20". Excellent condition. on ebay
