1970s Yves Saint Laurent Grey Flannel Jacket

spotlight Frequently referred to as the Ballet Russes collection, this wasn't Saint Laurent's own designation for his Fall 1976 work. Diana Vreeland just called it the "Russian" collection, which was probably a better description because it had influences of everything from Cossacks to, yes, the Ballet Russes. One of its more wearable pieces, a gorgeous grey wool flannel jacket with black twill trim and a row of petite black button and loop closures. Wide, slightly abbreviated sleeves and a lining of unctuous black silk satin, the illustration is Yves' own sketch, included in Vreeland's 1983 YSL retrospective at the Met. Gorgeous with everything from a Rive Gauche dirndl to jeans. Bust up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 22" and lgnth 28". Excellent condition. $510.00
