1950s Floral Cotton Sunsuit

summertime and the living is easy Kid birthday parties in the 50s and 60s were humble affairs, with Mom bringing out a lopsided chcocolate cake to the backyard for you and your cousins. You didn't even have friends there unless they could walk over themselves. The candles were half melted, sticking out of the cake in those pink and blue plastic flowers that would keep the wax from dripping onto your cake. Only thing was that Mom used the frosting in a can, which was basically made of wax so it wouldn't have mattered. But that was your cake and it was a good cake. Mom would then hang back with Aunt Jo in her cotton romper, not a shred of self-consciousness. They'd laugh, she was a pop of bright floral that looks muted in the one photograph you have of that birthday. In person though, bang! Color! Tangerine, pink and lime with a bright lemon yellow cotton lining. The flower layer is a skirt while the yellow layer is shorts. Back zip with adjustable button straps, the bodice is ruched on the sides and boned so even if you swim in it, the top won't yank down to your waist when you stand up. Don't ask us how we know. Bust measures 34", waist 26" and total length 27". Excellent condition. $80.00
