1960s Emanuel Ungaro Dropwaist Dress with Pea Coat

spotlight Emanuel Ungaro moved through many design phases in his career; from Courreges mod (he spent time at the house of Andre and Coqueline) to his very own fluid ruched silks, he is one of the few designers who really changed with the times and stayed totally original. And no one decade is really any better than the others for Ungaro but the 60s are rare indeed. Youthful and electric, his playful use of color and pattern put him on par with the most seasoned veterans of the space age look, although he was in his mere 20s. A slate blue wool crepe dress with slubbed silk sleeves and pockets in white under an electric radar screen woven wool jacket in blue, white and black. Schoolgirl and New York socialite all at once, with more than a subtle nod to the 1920s, the play of attitudes works brilliantly. Dress buttons to the navel with matte white buttons and has a pleated skirt while the double breasted jacket has curved belts at each wrist. Lined in white silk crepe, this looks gorgeous with shocking blue Edmundo Castillo shoes. Bust measures 34", shoulder to shoulder 14.5", outer sleeve 22.5", hips 35" and length 36". Jacket is 23" long. Both are in flawless, unworn condition with original hangtags. $895.00
