1950s Sybil Connolly Donegal Wool Suit

spotlight Sybil Sybil Sybil... Was anyone as discerning about fabric as you were? Yves Saint Laurent? Bonnie Cashin? There is something both earthy and feminine about her choice of textiles. From her signature mushroom-pleated linen to a tiny little tweed like this that tells you a lot about the designer herself. And while her details may not be quite as innovative as Cashin or Parisian chic like Yves, there is a wearability about this label that is completely modern to this day. A charming olive, brown, grey and yellow Donegal wool with flecks of baby blue and a superb wide lapel and precise tailoring. Three button placket with marbled cocoa buttons and angled round patch pockets. Long, straight skirt punctuated by a pair of pleats at both knees, we love this charcoal Wolford tights and low Isabale Marant ankle boots. Jacket is completely lined in bronze silk charmeuse and skirt is partially lined through the hips with the same. For I. Magnin, this also bears the weaver's label. Bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 15", outer sleeve 23.5" and length 24.5". Skirt has a 26" waist, 36" hips and is 28.5" long. Excellent condition. $745.00
