1960s Pink and Grey Suede Cobweb Dress

one of a kind Artists who work in more traditional mediums (like painting, sculpting, photography, etc.) don't have the same confines to work within as do craftspeople who work in wearable textile. Their work cannot stand alone - it has to relate to the human body and it has to be able to move or it ceases to be, well, clothing. In the most dramatic sense, Paul Poiret knew this. Issey Miyake and Zandra Rhodes also have a fine understanding of clothing as art but most designers are left with artistic touches and stick to the basics of "fashion design". After all, the designer's whole raison d'etre is gettin' paid so the clothes must be mainstream enough to sell en masse. Jump on the rare piece that is crafted by an artisanal designer who understands how to work in their chosen medium because those are always the things that stand out as special. Pat Mariner's grey suede dress that is tiered in jagged, dreamy stages with a pink suede cobweb covering the bodice. In the center, there is one glistening drop of dew that is actually a polished teardrop opf quartz. The ruffled edges are tipped in pink and the bodice is lined in butter crepe. Short blouson sleeves and a high waistline - this dress looks beautiful from every angle. Romantic and edgy, we love this with Vivienne Westwood fetish shoes and any scent that Robert at Aedes on Christoper Street picks out for you. Made in London, the bust measures 34", shoulder to shoulder 15" and length 54". Excellent condition. $1350.00
