1960s Scaasi Red and Cream Wool Suit

spotlight Once associated with the most venerable name in fashion, Charles James, Scaasi worked with the master for about two years before going out on his own. Arnold Isaacs surely must have learned a whole lot from James but instead of being a little miniature copycat, he forged his own style quite different from anyone he had worked for. Perky evening dresses with bubble skirts and refined daywear, his work is not easily recognized but is beautifully made. A red and white diagonal wool tweed suit with cropped jacket with wide, cropped sleeves over a below-the-knee skirt with two small side slits. Fastening along the placket with two huge covered wool buttons and a handful of hidden snaps, this looks best worn as a dress without a blouse showing and lots of dangly charms and pearls at the wrist. Lined in white silk crepe de chine, the bust measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 16" and length 20.5". Skirt has a 28" waist. 38" hips and is 26" long. Both pieces are in excellent condition. $305.00
