1970s Nik Nik Forest Print Shirt

spotlight In very much the same way that designers like Rudi Gernreich, Bonnie Cashin, Claire McCardell and others have been copied over the years - the Nik-Nik printed blouse is also the vintage piece which spawned a thousand imitators. Originally made for guys, women were so ga-ga for the slinky fit and the vivid prints that Nik-Nik started making their shirts 'unisex' in smaller sizes to please the the she/her/they of the day. Like Huk-A-Poo, Nik-Nik was made in limited editions and people would flock to the stores each time a new print came out. References to political themes and obscure art could be found in every Nik-Nik print. You know that old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words"? Well, these blouses are little prints and posters for your body. While you can compare a Charles James couture gown to owning an original Picasso sculpture, a Nik-Nik is more like a signed lithograph. A russet forest print with a waterfall deep in the woods. Buttons along the placket with stamped NIk-Nik lilac buttons, the bust measures 34", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 23.5" and length 23.5". Excellent condition. sold
