1980s Karl Lagerfeld Black and Blue Halter Dress

spotlight Karl Lagerfeld was a veritable fashion institute unto hmself and has his place in fashion history alongside names that don't even seem like people anymore; Chanel, Courreges, Pucci... Not only was his work for Chanel brilliant at a time when the house was floundering but his own label was intensely different than his work for Chanel. In this repect he was very much like Yves Saint Laurent - a man who could do most everything. This black and blue silk crepe halter dress wraps around the back of neck and buttons at the top of the shoulder, where it meets the base of your neck - intimating the most intimate of places on a woman's body where she feels a lover's kiss or she touches her glass perfume stopper to her skin. Surplice bodice with a deep inverted pleat that runs the length of the dress, it is black at bust and hem and is bissected by a skirt of the deepest midnight blue. The matching poncho hangs like a waterfall around your shoulders. Keep the accessories to a minimum with this one - a great pair of Kenneth Jay Lane drop earrings and one fantastic cocktail ring. Boned through the bodice, this dress has been professionally altered through the bust to make it larger - by the tailors at Henri Bendel and the tag reflects this. Bust measures 37" and will fit a large C or small D cup. Hips 36" and length 57.5". What we're talking about is very busty size 8. Excellent condition. sold
