1980s Issey Miyake Tasseled Skirt

behind every great man From the inception of his eponymous label in 1971 until 2000, the textile director for the Issey Miyake's main line was a woman. Makiko Minagawa. Doesn't that figure? While certainly nodding to traditional Japanese textiles and concepts, the two created things that cannot be compared to anything else and yet are so completely true to their culture. Sometimes even borrowing from the textiles of India, the weaves and knits are stupefying. A two-layered skirt of heavy cotton gauze, woven to leave perforations and tassels of itself. Windowpane pattern in cream and charcoal on a beigey/grey/sagey background, the top layer is a literal square that forms cool angles when left to drape. Waist 27" yo 29" and length 35", Excellent condition. $835.00
