Helmut Lang's earliest work is a flawless marriage of tailored and feminine. The precision and the very futuristic vision is different than the other "cool" craftspeople of the late 80s and early 90s. And he played with these sheer polyamide tops for a couple of seasons that were meant to be worn with no underlayer, just skin. It wasn't vulgar, it was just genius. The contemporary label does not come close, which proves it was all about the man who left the label in 2005.
