1960s Giorgio di Sant'Angelo Hooded Astrakhan Cape

spotlight Back when Diana Vreeland was the editor of Vogue (you know, before she was let go because they had to change their excessive ways), the sky was the limit for editorials. Whether it was to fill an abandoned dance hall with fresh roses or send Veruschka to some far-flung location with Giorgio di Sant'Angelo and do whatever the hell they wanted, the reason why 60's Vogues are so amazing is because of this creative carte blanche. Sant'Angelo was perhaps the most creative of the craftspeople, able to spin on a dime and do everything from nomad to Grecian woman warrior. This wasn't the stuff you wore to the office unless you worked at Vogue. A column of black astrakhan fur with a tapestry hem and druid hood tipped in one long brown suede tassel. Liined entirely in patchwork floral silk, it is a riot of color flashing out from under a cloak of invisibility. Slits for your hands on both sides and a single interior pocket, it is 39" from nape to hem and in excellent condition. on ebay
