1960s Anne Fogarty Quilted Hostess Skirt

spotlight We normally don't talk about where our stuff comes from - although many of our things have had a glorious past and then go on to have glorious futures with women who will love them as much as the original owner has. But this skirt came from a woman who called us one day and said, "I was a Vogue "Honorable Mention" back in the day when they used to do that sort of thing - 1938.". So we ran over there and there was the cutest damn woman you will ever see, still elbowing her husband in the ribs and laughing like a mischievous schoolgirl in her 80s. While St. Louis may not be fashion mecca, we have our rare jewels here. She talked about her Claire McCardell playsuits with starlight in her eyes and pulled out the finest Indian silks that had been given to her in Bombay. The she raised her little arm and dangling on a hanger with a bow was an Anne Fogarty quilted wool skirt. She remembers wearing it to a party on New Years Eve, with a pink sweater and a long pistachio green satin coat over it. How will your own memories be told? A skirt with a most loving vibe - bought by a woman who adored it and designed by a woman who loved what she did. Schoolbus yellow wool with allover magenta roses and paisley borders in blue and green, trimmed in olive velvet with a bow at the small of the back. Pockets on both side seams, of course, and a full silhouette that is charming but still sophisticated. Backed in cotton, the waist measures 27" and length is 41". Excellent condition. $295.00
