1950s Anne Fogarty Embroidered Velvet Dress

spotlight Sometimes, our own mothers are the ones who deem vintage labels worth it or not around here. Okay, maybe just the ones that were made before we were born but still ... their opinion weighs in as supremely valuable. These is the woman who wore Charles James in the 50s - Courreges in the 60s and Castelbajac in the 70s so we don't argue with their opinions based on all of that. So what do they say about Anne Fogarty? "Fogarty was always so feminine without being fussy.". And we agree one hundred percent. A cult favorite with vintage girls, Anne Fogarty's dresses (especially the ones made for Margot) take you back to a time where things seemed much more mannered and polite. A more civilized time. Black cotton velvet with a wide scoopneck and back, embroidered with pink, yellow and blue daisies - scattered about through the yards and yards of skirt. Fitted through the bodice and waist, flared through the skirt, it has her classic paper doll silhouette in an absolutely charming fabric and inseam pockets at each hip. Not only lovely but smart too. Lined in black silk crepe, the bust measures 37", shoulder to shoulder 15", waist 25" and length 43". Excellent condition, $325.00
