1970s Jacques Fath Cocktail Suit

just a label Purists that we are, we would be liars to say anything after 1954 is truly Jacques Fath. That was the year he died and the beginning of a decades-long attempt at trying to revive the house. Nope. Sorry. While they did manage to stay afloat for a long time, labels after Jacques' death have little to do with Fath although they are still well-made and of wonderful textiles. They're just not, well Jacques Fath. An "I don't know who designed this but it has a Jacques Fath label" cocktail suit of black and metallic silver striped silk with silk velvet trim and jewelled buttons. And as an evening suit, it is of a fantastic textile and beautifully tailored. A perfect thing to wear to a party after work that requires more than daywear and less than a dang ballgown. Lined in black silk crepe, there is also a Neiman Marcus label. Bust measures 34", shoulder to shoulder 16", outer sleeve 24.5" and length 22.5". Skirt has a 28" waist, 36" hips and is 23.5" long. Excellent condition. $115.00
