1970s Cotton Eyelet Summer Suit

spotlight The perfect compromise between the wildly popular baby-doll look of the mid 60s and the more modest attitude inherent in a suit, this cotton eyelet suit is cute, but not cutesy. Beige and ivory cotton is banded together to form alternating strokes of crochet and oversized eyelet. The jacket has a V neckline and buttons at the diaphragm with two big matte white buttons. The skirt is as formfitting as they get, without stretching, and the scalloped edges are perky perky perky. The layers are tiered so there's lot of texture and visual contrast and it was made by Saks Fifth Avenue, which had one of the very best in-house design teams of any of the department stores (and that's our major secret - Saks rules). Both pieces are lined in very fine silk crepe, backed by cotton batiste, and the bust on the jacket measures 36", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 22.5" and length 21". Skirt has a 24" waist and is 24" long. Both are in excellent condition. $90.00
