An early Pierre Cardin LBD, Cardin was the absolute maestro of early pret-a-porter and licensing, making him one of the best known names in fashion through everything from sheets to cologne. Despite having worked for Paquin, Schiap and Dior, Balenciaga wouldn't hire him, spurring him to create his own label. You can see where he was going with all that mod stuff here, with the curved seaming (we have lightened that last photo to try to give you an idea). Overlapped, flanged front with a single flat bow at the left shoulder, it is the most gorgeous black silk crepe lined in black silk charmeuse. With a Miss Bonwit label, the bust measures 36", waist 26", hips 34" and length 40". Excellent condition. $230.00 |
