1970s Black Leather Cafe Racer Jacket

today''s history lesson Sometimes you just have to wonder where certain things get their names. Like, why is a collarless leather jacket called a cafe racer? Does it spurt espresso from the wrists, a la Spiderman? We might like that but no, that's not quite what it means. It is named after the style of motorbike British boys used to ride when cafe hopping. More like "Garçon Poseur", non? And like most classic pieces (including platform shoes having originally been mens' shoes), a good style jumps genders. A clean fit with no collar, zipped sleeves and curved seaming, this has zippered slash pockets and a big fat Talon zipper. Quilted acetate lining, the bust measures up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 23.5" and length 21.5". Excellent condition. $425.00
