A black dress really -is- timeless. Fashion magazines sell us a lot of bullshit in order to generate sales because everyone kowtows to the advertisers. Oh sure, a little McQueen will sneak in there but really, we are told what to wear, how to wear and when to wear it by the labels that are in a position to roll off the most garments. But one thing remains fact - black will never go out of style. With all the precision you would expect from Geoffrey Beene, a black dress that is a contrast of sheens. Black wool and silk twill is banded with blalck silk satin behind the lapel, inside the quadruple silk button French cuff sleeve, the flat bow at the waist and the wide stroke at the hem. Sleeve is cropped - please no Apple watch. Okay, if it has an Hermes band, go ahead. Positively civilized, you can easily change it up with everything from Marc Jacobs mouse flats to high electric green Versace pumps. Bust measures 36", waist 27", hips 38", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve without being folded back 22" and length 43". Excellent condition. $325.00 |
