1970s Geoffrey Beene Oatmeal Wool Suit

spotlight Geoffrey Beene is the last of the old school designers, with a knowledge of traditonal tailoring that has long since been abandoned. But the reason why you don't regard Beene's clothing as highly as perhaps Norman Norell is because of two things; 1) Beene took a real press beating during his feud with John Fairchild at WWD 2) his clothes are not rigid or stuffy so they seem eternally youthful and youth is usually not associated with sophistication. Piquant, flattering and feminine, Beene customers are a little mischievous in all the right ways. An oatmeal wool tweed suit with gathered skirt that flares at the hem and a cropped jacket with "tails" at the back of the waist. Soft as a baby's blanket, the jacket is lined in taupe silk and looks charming with high YSL mary janes and a little brown cashmere turtleneck. Bust measures 32", shoulder to shoulder 14.5", outer sleeve 20" and length 19". Skirt has a 23" waist and is 23" long. Ideally sized for a modern 2 or healthy 4. Both are in excellent condition. $610.00
