1970s Jean Varon Belted Kimono Top

bring on the gold The label Jean Varon is John Bates. John Bates is the designer who made that backless sequin dress worn by Julie Christie in Shampoo. And while he certainly did sexy, he was also a fan of stylizing ancient prints and much more wearable silhouettes for both Varon and his eponymous label. It's not like you can wear a strapless evening gown with feathers or a sequin dress to the supermarket and if you did, what sort of mask would you wear with that? A KN95 is going to really screw up the look. A stylized Byzantine floral in rust, black and honey with cropped kimono sleeves and asymmetrical placket and covered buttons, it comes with a matching 3" sash. Lovely with a vintage YSL long wool skirt and boots a la Russe. Synthetic crepe of acetate and nylon. Very open sizing but we recommend nothing under a modern 8. Could go up to a 16. Length 32". Excellent condition. $270.00
