1950s Painterly Red Georgette Dress

spotlight Some clothes have soundtracks. A Norell coat that is a perfect doorbell ding-dong. Mod pants that sing "Comment te dire adieu" or a dress that is pure George Shearing on the piano. The TV we watched from that era was black and white so it's hard to imagine Mary Tyler Moore as Laura Petrie in bright red dress but it happened, we swear! The woman who just roasted a turkey in a full-skirted dress with heels on. Hubby comes home, she's mixing martinis in pantyhose. Now when he gets home, he better start dinner before -you- get home. A giant watercolor red poppy print georgette dress with a keyhole neckline and surplice bodice, it doesn't matter what spikes you step into; chartreuse, black, red, baby blue. Lined in synthetic satin with a tulle underskirt for shape, the back is cut into a deepish V. Dresses like this are pure feminine nostalgia that speak to a time when people had manners. Good manners. And people dressed nice, like, all the time. We like that. Bust measures 34", waist 26" and length 43". Excellent condition. $140.00
