Yves Saint Laurent may be French but his style ranged from all-American to Brazilian in the blink of an eye. One of the very few vintage labels that never, ever looks dated, Rive Gauche was an ongoing collection of beautiful clothing that Yves designed to bring haute couture down to a level that was accessible, intelligent and practical. And flattering. A Latin-inspired silk dress with a flounced neckline and sash that crosses over the butt to wrap back around and tie at the natural waist. A fantastic emphasis on the back and butt, while the front is left relatively simple. Stylized floral print in banana, blueberry, magenta, charcoal and black, the bust measures up to 38" and length 52.5". A vintage French 42, which translates to a modern 8 (it was a 12 back in its time), we find it to be true to size. Excellent condition. sold |
